Active Jewellery

We are delighted to be partnering again with the Platinum Guild International (PGI) as Named Award Patrons, who are sponsoring this section to promote Platinum jewellery, the most noble and durable of precious metals. PGI and Tracr also work closely together as you will see in their design brief for Diamond Jewellery.

Inspired by the athletes at the Olympics, fashionable street wear and active lifestyles, this brief is about jewellery that proclaims inner strength, positivity and confidence, whilst remaining suitable and practical for every day wear,  no matter the occasion, outfit or activity.  This is a perfect match for platinum, a metal that is highly resistant to colour change or oxidation. It remains its pure brilliant white colour and is hypoallergenic, making it suitable for wearing at the gym, for outside sports, pool, yoga and much more.

Your challenge is to design a platinum piece for everyday wear on the theme of  ‘Active Jewellery’ - a design trend that is edgy and bold, that is versatile with every outfit, and comfortable to wear across many activities, including at the gym or on the court.

All designs must incorporate the following:

  • Platinum must be the main stake holder (at least two thirds) of your design.

  • Natural diamonds, pearls or other gems and materials can be incorporated to enhance your platinum designs.

  • Designs should successfully translate into manufacture and keeping the finished gramme weights within familiar margins for platinum jewellery i.e., that they are able to be competitive in the platinum jewellery market.

For more information, influence and inspiration on the theme of ‘Active Jewellery”, please see here for a PDF of the trend forecast.

A brilliant opportunity...

Following the Awards ceremony and exhibition at Goldsmiths’ Hall, and from their considerable experience in Platinum Jewellery worldwide, PGI, through their global consumer marketing and educational programmes will offer advice and guidance to the award winners about the market of Platinum Jewellery.
