Traceable Diamond Jewellery

Traceable elegance...

We are excited to announce the new 2D Tracr Design Award, celebrating the fusion of creativity, craftsmanship, technology, and ethical transparency.

Tracr is the world's leading digital platform that, through blockchain, traces natural diamonds from source at scale, bringing the ability to explore the provenance, authenticity and the unique journey a diamond has taken along the diamond value chain.

Your mission: Create a signature design that can serve as a blueprint for a broader commercial collection, incorporating Tracr-sized diamonds (30 points upwards) and showcasing the unique beauty of diamond fluorescence, promoting this as a natural and unique characteristic of diamonds.

Consider a modern clientele who values ethical transparency and timeless luxury. The design should appeal to those who appreciate the traceability and authenticity of every diamond they wear, reinforcing the theme of value of traceability.

Why fluorescent diamonds?

At the core of Tracr's soul are natural diamonds, in all their shapes and shades. For this year's competition, Tracr wants to pay homage to one of the most fascinating of diamonds characteristic: fluorescence. This is natural and unique quality that appears under certain lighting conditions, most notably with ultra violet light (UV). A Diamond emits a subtle effervescence and glow, which can vary in colour and intensity depending on its origin.

This challenge invites you to creatively interpret this feature and utilise it to enhance your design's distinctiveness, ideally connecting it to the theme of traceability.

Design Requirements

  • Platinum will be the metal of choice, known for its durability and purity, it is ideal for crafting timeless pieces that endure the rigours of daily wear.  Platinum is selected not only for its unmatched qualities but also because it's a well-traced and sustainable precious metal, aligning perfectly with Tracr's values. Our collaboration with Platinum Guild International (PGI) further reinforces this commitment, as we work together to promote transparency and traceability in the industry.

  • Diamonds only: to be used as the sole gemstone. However, feel free to vary with cuts, number of stones and size (upwards of 30pt). The use of fluorescent diamonds is mandatory, but not all diamonds used in the design need to necessarily exhibit fluorescence.

  • No limitations on object type: there are no restrictions on the item or type of jewellery for this challenge - rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, wristwear or other forms are all welcome.

  • Iconic design: The design should be iconic and versatile and able to inspire a wider range of commercial jewellery that retain the same signature style.

Potential Opportunity

Subject to their consideration Tracr will leverage its network to support the winning designer to explore developing a commercial line of Diamond Jewellery.

Tracr is the world’s first fully distributed diamond traceability platform that starts at the source and operates at scale, bringing the ability to explore the provenance, authenticity and unique journey a natural diamond has taken along the diamond value chain. Our ambition is to promote transparency and enhanced confidence in natural diamonds, using the power of digital storytelling.

The backbone of the Tracr platform is fully distributed blockchain technology. As a diamond travels through the value chain, information is uploaded to the blockchain at different stages. This means that Tracr creates unchangeable, tamper-proof digital records for individual diamonds as they move from source to manufacturer, to the store. With its innovative approach and advanced technology, Tracr provides a robust solution for today's needs while helping the diamond industry to prepare for the future.
